design: high-rise work nook

so this whole high-rise apartment in downtown san diego absolutely beautiful, but i'm mostly drawn to this little home office nook, located right behind the (also super cool) dining room table ~

why i love it :

 - practicality : there's likely not space in this luxe apt for an entire home office, but this little nook is just perfect, without looking out of place or obtrusive

- sleek design. clean, crisp, organized. perfect.

- white (ceramic?) birds. just lovely!

- incredible window right behind it!  i've been to san diego a few times and i can imagine just how inspiring this view is.

- framed pictures without being too overwhelming.

all in all, i just love the sleek design of this officespace.  definite love.

this framed print desperately needs to be above my desk at work.  well... if only my desk were against a wall.  but perhaps a smaller version framed on my filing cabinet.  or even better, a journal with it on the cover, so when i carry it around when the store is open, and i want to yell at nearly everyone... i don't.

 when your organized files match, it creates harmony which is perfect to work around. makes filing way more fun + sophisticated!

nothing is better than having someone able to hang with you in you while you work away.

design: incredible murphy bed

okay, i understand your potential hesitation in response to my claim that a murphy bed could be "incredible" - i would certainly have that reaction.  murphy beds are beyond practical but, in my opinion, terrible.  i love beds in design.  i love mountains of pillows and a thick, inviting comforter.  i love creative headboards and canopies and benches at the end of the bed.  simple as that: i love beds.  and regardless of practicality, muphy beds rob me of that beauty.  the bed has to be hidden during the day & you have to go through the trouble of pulling it out in order to enjoy it - read: no cat naps, no plopping down on the bed for just a minute in between running around getting ready.  maybe it's worth it for you, but to me, that sounds miserable.

but i digress.  back to my claim that there is such thing as an incredible murphy bed.  rather than describe it, i'll just give a pic:

it's a wall.... no, a bed with underneath storage!...no, a desk with overhead shelving!

so yeah, i have to admit that this murphy bed is incredible.  the ideas can't help but flood my mind...perfect for a small studio apartment...ideal in an office where you may need to crash one night after a long day... incredible for a work space turned guest room!!

i admit it: i love this murphy bed.  too bad it costs $5,326 [by flying beds]

sometimes i dream of being the kind of career woman who has a home office - an entrepreneur, writer, etc., and i've always understood the importance of having an organized, inspirational workspace.  in case that day does come, i'm filing this idea away in my future design box :
