The show was temporarily cancelled for Pakistan’s semi-final World Cup cricket match against India, a testament to how important the sport is to both countries. Although, there weren’t any obvious references to a rivalry with India on the fashion front, Pakistani fashion officials made it known that almost all of the models in their shows were from Pakistan, following claims of discrimination by Indian models over the preference shown for European models over Indian girls in India’s fashion shows. But being a model in a conservative country like Pakistan is no easy task. Many who choose to pursue the profession face rejection and ill-treatment from their families.
